Overview
Applying to internships on CareerTruss is designed to be simple while giving students enough information to make informed decisions. Once you submit an application, you can track its progress as the employer reviews candidates and updates the application status.
Application methods
Before you apply
An application should not be treated as a button you simply press for free. Take a few minutes to understand the opportunity and make sure it is actually right for you.
- Complete and review your CareerTruss profile.
- Read the entire internship listing carefully.
- Check the eligibility and qualification requirements.
- Understand the location and work arrangement.
- Review the compensation or fee structure.
- Check the internship duration and joining expectations.
- Prepare any required documents, portfolio links, or information.
Read before you apply
CareerTruss encourages students to spend a few minutes understanding an opportunity before submitting an application. An internship can involve a significant amount of your time, so the decision should be based on more than a title or stipend amount.
Understand the company
Take time to learn about the organisation offering the internship. Consider what the company does, what kind of work you will be exposed to, and whether the experience aligns with your career direction.
Understand the terms
Pay attention to the duration, responsibilities, location, working arrangement, compensation, required commitments, and any other terms mentioned in the listing.
Be especially careful with training and bootcamp opportunities
Training and bootcamp opportunities can have different structures from standard internships. Read the programme details, fees, training structure, refund policy, and other disclosed terms before applying.

Hiring timelines can vary considerably between employers. Some opportunities may receive a response quickly, while others may take longer to review applications.
Tip
Build experience, not just a stipend
An internship is an opportunity to build practical experience, develop skills, understand how organisations operate, and create evidence of your ability to work in a professional environment.
A higher stipend is not automatically a better opportunity. When comparing internships, consider the quality of the work, mentorship, learning opportunities, responsibilities, company environment, and relevance to your long-term career goals.
Tip
