Notifications

Where updates surface across the product.

Last updated 15 Jul 2026

Overview

CareerTruss notifications keep you informed about important activity across your account. They are designed to surface events that may require your attention, such as application updates, new applicants, listing decisions, security events, and employer responsiveness alerts.

Some notifications are informational, while others are action-oriented. Action-oriented notifications are particularly important because ignoring them may affect an application, listing, or account.

Notifications are part of the CareerTruss workflow

Important events should not require you to constantly monitor every page of CareerTruss. When an event requires your attention, CareerTruss may surface it through an in-app notification, email, or both.

Employer responsiveness notifications

CareerTruss uses notifications as an important part of the Employer Inactivity Enforcement System (EIES). Employers may receive notifications when applications require attention or when their listing's active status is affected by prolonged inactivity.

EIES notifications are action-oriented

If you receive an EIES notification, it is generally not just an informational message. It means there is something you should review or resolve from your Employer Dashboard.

Examples of EIES notifications

NotificationWhat it means
Application awaiting responseAn application has remained without the required employer action for an extended period.
Inactivity warningYour listing is approaching an inactivity threshold and requires attention.
Listing auto-pausedCareerTruss has temporarily stopped the listing from receiving new public applications.
Applications require attentionOne or more outstanding applications need to be reviewed or updated.
Listing reactivatedThe listing has returned to its active state after the required action was completed.

Warning

Do not ignore EIES notifications. Leaving applications unattended can eventually affect the visibility and active status of the associated internship.

Why CareerTruss sends these notifications

Students spend time preparing profiles, reading listings, and applying to opportunities. When an employer stops responding, students can be left uncertain about whether an opportunity is still active.

EIES notifications give employers an opportunity to act before or after inactivity affects their listing. The goal is not simply to enforce a rule — it is to encourage a healthier and more responsive recruitment environment.

Tip

The best way to avoid missing an important EIES notification is to regularly review your Employer Dashboard and keep applicant statuses current.

Managing notifications

  1. Check your notification area

Review recent notifications from your CareerTruss account to see activity relevant to you.
  2. Read action-oriented notifications

Pay particular attention to notifications that indicate an application or listing requires your attention.
  3. Monitor your email

Important account, application, moderation, and employer activity may also be delivered to your registered email address.
  4. Take the required action

When a notification asks you to review an application, update a listing, or resolve another issue, complete the action from the relevant CareerTruss page.

Notifications and email

CareerTruss may send automated emails when important events occur. These emails are intended to make sure critical updates are not missed simply because a user is not currently signed in.

  • Account and authentication events.
  • Application activity.
  • Employer applicant activity.
  • Listing moderation decisions.
  • EIES warnings and listing state changes.
  • Other important platform events.

Keep your email address accessible

Your registered email address is an important part of your CareerTruss account. Make sure you can access it and check it regularly for important platform communications.

What happens if you miss a notification?

Notifications are designed to inform you, but they do not replace the responsibility to manage your account and listings.

For example, an employer should not rely on receiving an email before reviewing applications. Regularly checking the Employer Dashboard is still the safest way to stay on top of recruitment activity.

Looking ahead

CareerTruss will continue expanding its notification system as more platform features become available. Additional notification categories, delivery channels, and user preferences may be introduced over time.

Tip

As CareerTruss grows, notifications will increasingly act as the bridge between important platform events and the actions users need to take.
