Overview
Publishing an internship is only the beginning of the recruitment process. Once your listing is live, you are responsible for keeping its information accurate, reviewing applications, and keeping the opportunity active only while you are genuinely accepting candidates.
CareerTruss is designed around an active recruitment model. Employers are expected to respond to applicants rather than leaving applications unattended for long periods of time.
A live listing requires active management
Listing lifecycle
An internship can move through several states during its lifetime. These states help distinguish opportunities that are awaiting review, actively accepting applications, no longer available, or no longer suitable for publication.
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
Pending_Review | The listing has been submitted and is awaiting CareerTruss moderation. |
Live | The listing is publicly visible and can receive applications. |
Auto_Paused | CareerTruss has temporarily hidden the listing because employer responsiveness system requires your attention. |
Expired | The configured application deadline has passed. |
Not Approved | The listing did not pass review or requires changes before publication. |
Archived | The listing has been permanently closed and is retained for records. |
Managing a live listing
Monitor applications
Regularly check incoming applications from your Employer Dashboard and review candidates who have applied.Update candidate statuses
Move applicants through the appropriate stages of your hiring process. Keeping statuses current gives candidates a clearer understanding of where they stand.Keep the listing accurate
Update information when important details change, including responsibilities, requirements, compensation, location, or application conditions.Manage the deadline
Extend the deadline when you genuinely need additional applications. If you have finished recruiting, close or archive the opportunity instead.Close completed opportunities
Once the position has been filled or recruitment is finished, stop accepting applications so students do not continue applying to an opportunity that is no longer available.
Employer responsiveness
CareerTruss tracks employer responsiveness after students apply. This is part of the platform's effort to prevent students from repeatedly applying to opportunities that are no longer being actively managed.
Meet EIES
If an employer leaves applications without an appropriate response for an extended period, CareerTruss may temporarily pause the associated internship. While paused, the listing is no longer publicly available to new applicants until the employer resolves the required action.
Tip
What EIES means for your listing
- New applications may begin a response period for your listing.
- Keeping applications reviewed helps maintain the listing's active state.
- An inactive listing can be temporarily hidden from students.
- Resolving the outstanding applications can restore normal activity.
EIES is not a punishment system
When a listing is automatically paused
An automatically paused listing is temporarily removed from the public browsing experience because employer activity requires attention. Existing application information remains available to the employer so the outstanding recruitment activity can be resolved.
When the required action has been completed, the employer can follow the available reactivation process from the Employer Dashboard.
Warning
Updating a listing
Listing information should remain accurate throughout the recruitment period. If an important part of the opportunity changes, update the listing rather than allowing students to apply based on outdated information.
- Responsibilities or day-to-day work.
- Required qualifications.
- Location or work arrangement.
- Compensation or stipend.
- Internship duration.
- Application deadline.
- Application method.
Warning
Extending a deadline
If you have not received enough suitable applications, you may extend the application deadline where the platform allows it.
- Extend the deadline only when recruitment is genuinely continuing.
- Do not repeatedly extend an opportunity without a clear reason.
- Make sure the new deadline accurately reflects your recruitment plans.
When a listing is no longer needed
Once recruitment has finished, the listing should no longer remain available to new applicants.
Finish reviewing applications
Complete the relevant applicant decisions and update candidate statuses.Stop accepting applications
Close or otherwise deactivate recruitment for the opportunity.Archive the listing
Archive the completed opportunity so it no longer appears as an active recruitment listing.
When a listing isn't approved
A listing that does not meet CareerTruss requirements will not become publicly available until the relevant issues are resolved.
Review the feedback provided by CareerTruss, make the requested corrections, and resubmit the listing when it is ready.
Warning
